The common cold is caused by viruses, which do not respond to antibiotics. There’s an old saying quote “treat a cold for two weeks and it will go away, and don’t treat a cold for two weeks and it will go away.” Colds typically go up and down the respiratory tract like an elevator, and stop at every floor, causing stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, cough, body aches, and even low-grade fever.

I don’t feel well
Sometimes I hear from patients, ” I just don’t feel well” or “I love to exercise but my exercise capacity has soundly decreased”. There can be many reasons for this, but one that is often overlooked is atrial fibrillation. AF can be quite serious but is very treatable. If you like to exercise, or even if you don’t, it’s simple to learn how to take your own pulse. I would be happy to demonstrate, or see you if this is what describes what’s been happening to you lately. If you are at risk for AF, try to limit alcohol or eliminate it altogether.
