Medication Interactions
Patients will often ask why physicians would recommend a medication change, refuse to write for a desired new prescription or even discontinue a medication that a patient has been on for many years.
Remember the most experienced healthcare professionals probably, more often than not, send patients to the ER for things that don’t turn out to be that serious. We’re like baseball players, so even the Hall of Famers get a hit only one out of three times at best. So if you are in doubt, about signs such as weakness, slurring of speech, or just not acting right, don’t be embarrassed that you might ultimately be wrong whether that person across the table from you is having a stroke or not. Be a friend, and don’t hesitate to call 911! PS, the same rules apply to you if you’re having symptoms of a stroke.
As the old song goes, “memories sweeten through the ages just like wine” but they also can become fleeting. Probably a week doesn’t go by, without a patient expressing concerns about their memory. I’m sure if a survey was done here in Tucson, memory loss, would be one of the greatest concerns for us as we get older. I just read a very interesting, and short article in the Journal of the American Medical Association ( JAMA), about memory loss.
Donate blood
Just donated blood. Great way to get some tasty snacks and even better way to ease the shortage of blood and blood products. The life you save, may be your own so please donate!
